The Sagano Bamboo Forest, also known as the Bamboo Forest by visitors from near and far, is an enchanting grove growing tall on the outskirts of Kyoto that is now a densely populated tourist destination with people walking around, capturing the serene forest, and even finding spots to sit down and clear their minds, hear themselves away from the loud and vibrant urbanity of their lives. It was once the pinnacle of calm, but the chatter and banter of the tourists has interfered with that. Nonetheless, people from all over come to visit the location because if you love nature and can understand its soulfulness, you may still discover it among Japan’s bamboo trees today.
The canopy created by the tall bamboo stalks instills a sense of coziness and warmth in most who visit this location. In Japan, Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples are commonly located among bamboo forests, which are believed to protect against evil and represent strength.
